Since you've been gone...

Sorry I haven't been blogging for a while, I've had a lot on my plate.

I've recently moved back up to the land of Stoke on Trent for the second year of Uni. I've been packing, sorting out my student finance (Which was a nightmare) and generally getting myself together.

I had my birthday, which was nice. Then I had a lot of work. Can't complain about that, to be honest, it's getting me money. Something of high value to me.

But I still can't wait to get back to studying. I'll try and keep my blog all updated for you all, because it's always so thrilling. Sometimes, though, finding an interesting topic to write about is harder than actually writing it. So bear with me if I don't blog for a very long time.

So, anyway, previously in my life (To quote the fabulous Miranda Hart) I've become a Welcome Week Rep for Freshers Week at Uni. Or, as they are called by most people, a 'Purple Person'. Basically, I walk around campus in a purple t-shirt, offering help to Freshers who feel lost. It's only volunteer work, but it's all good to put on the C.V for when I want to get a job. It's all 'Such Fun!' (Sorry, I'm in a Miranda-quoting mood today)

Hopefully, I'll be all moved into my new house in a week or so, I'm just sofa-hopping at the moment. Sleeping wherever I can. Living off a small amount of money. Today, I had only £1.30 to go and do shopping with. I ended up spending £1.10 and got enough food for 5 days. I've never been so chuffed.

I don't get my loan for a week or two, so I now have £5 to last me, unless I get a miracle amount of money. So, until then, I'm living on chicken noodle tinned soup and some kind of sachet food that serves 4 people that I can make then keep it in the fridge for a few days and keep eating little bits of it. I'm a very resourceful student. Can you tell?

Anyway, that's a recap of my life. It's still not very interesting, but thanks for reading the update anyway. It's much appreciated. I'm just going to use this moment to thank you all for reading. I've recently hit nearly 700 views on my blog and I'm grateful for each and everyone. Thank you very much. I love you all.

Keep calm and carry on.

Back to school again...

Another summer gone. Another glum start to the academic year for all the young school children who wish their summer holidays were much longer. Wishing they had a few more days of freedom before heading back to the depressing corridors and classrooms of their school.

I completely sympathize with them. I hated going back to school.

But then, when you get to my age (Apologies for sounding like an oldie), and you're at Uni, you find yourself WANTING to go back early. Those kids must think we're crazy

University just has a different vibe to it. There's more freedom, everyone bonds and you just enjoy yourself. In Schools these days, kids judge each other and bully each other so easily. There are different friendship groups and gangs forming, that it's hard for kids to make friends so easily. No wonder they don't want to go back.

The thing I hated most about going back to school was the awkward conversations about your summer that you'd always have with people:

Person: "Did you go anywhere nice over the summer?"
Me: "Nope, stayed at home most of the time."
Person: "Did you go out on day trips anywhere? A theme park? The Zoo?"
Me: "I went shopping a couple of times?"

Person: "Go and see any family or friends?"
Me: "I had a small birthday party."
Person: "Oh, that's nice what did you do?"
Me: "Stayed at home"

I never did anything in the summer. So, I suppose, the only good thing about going back to school was having something to do instead of sitting around waiting for something to happen. I think it's fair to say I wasn't a very 'pro-active' child.

Anyway, if you're heading back to school, College, Sixth Form or University, just remember this: Every year is a new beginning. Use this to make a new start if last year was rubbish. Start buckling down, doing your work and make this year your greatest.

That sounded really pretentious and I apologise profusely.

Just have a great year and try not to get into trouble too much.

Stay classy, San Diego.

Happy birthday to youuuuuu!!!

It was my birthday this week, which is why I haven't been around much... Sorry.

But, on my birthday, I woke up at 6:45. Yes, you read that right, I woke up at 6:45. And, as usual on your birthday, once you're awake you can't go back to sleep. So, I stayed awake until about 8am, which I thought was a reasonable time to go downstairs and make a cup of tea and open my pressies!

But, before I did, I got my present and card from my lovely boyfriend. I wasn't expecting much, but I got a card shaped as a TARDIS. The cutest card I've ever seen! Then I read the cute message inside: Georgie, I might not be Matt Smith or the Doctor. But this card makes up for that. Pretty happy that you're my companion. More than happy. Here's a fez.*picture of fez.* Have a great birthday.

He's rather charming, isn't he?  Then, just to top off the cuteness, he got me a home made Hufflepuff bracelet, which looks amazing! I reckon he did a good job.

So, as well as my awesome card and bracelet, I got some useful Uni stuff from my mum. Including an air bed which, as weird as it sounds, I wanted. If I have visitors at Uni,  they have somewhere comfy to sleep, as I don't think my sofa will be comfy enough. I got some pretty awesome stuff overall.

My sister told me off for waking up so early on my birthday. Well, I say she told me off; She said that I shouldn't wake up so early on my birthday. I'm growing up. I'm getting old.

She had a point.

Apart from the 'getting old' thing. I'm still as immature as I was when I was 7.

Sorry to go on about my birthday, especially if you don't have a birthday for a while. I just like talking about it. If you prefer I do a countdown until Christmas then that can be arranged. Trust me, I love Christmas.

To anyone who had a birthday recently, the song at the end of this blog is for you!

Keep calm and carry on.

Birthday blues...

Normally, in the weeks leading up to my birthday, I'm all excited about becoming a year older.

When you're younger, you look forward to all the presents, silly party games, and all the other stuff children do at parties.

But as I get older, with the exception of my 18th birthday, I haven't really felt the buzz I used to get.

I guess it's just because I don't like the idea of getting older. It scares me. I'm going to have to live in the real world and get a job and stuff... It doesn't sound all that fun to me.

Despite this, I'm turning 19 in under a week and I'm determined to say goodbye to my year as an 18-year-old in style, as I haven't really had chance before. My 18th was fun, but this year will be better!

I'm doing what the Queen does. TWO BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS. Because I'm greedy.

Yes, not one birthday celebration but two. I say "Celebration" because they're not really parties. They're more 'getting together and going out'-type celebrations. One on my actual birthday and one when I get back to Uni, considering not many people could actually make it to my birthday.

I used to want my birthday to be like the spoiled brat birthday parties you see on MTV, where they all get a snazzy new car and a pretty dress. They all seem to have hundreds of friends, even though very few of them actually get invited.

Then I realised that I don't have a rich daddy. So I usually just settled for whatever I could manage.

I guess there isn't really a tale to take away from this blog post other than enjoy your youthful birthday parties, because they only happen once a year. Unless you're the Queen.

Carpe Diem.

"And bad mistakes, I've made a few"

We've all made mistakes. We can't deny it, we can't repress them. They happened and, annoyingly enough, we have to learn from them and carry on with our lives.

Mistakes are the worst thing to happen to anyone because, once they've happened, we have to face the consequences. We can't change the past.

I'm really good at making mistakes and then not learning from them.

I'm not going to sit here and list every mistake I've ever made because the post will just never end. (Plus, some of them are just so cringeworthy!)

Some of you may remember the post I did a couple of weeks ago called "Nothing Good Ever Happens After 2am". I still stick to this motto. It's currently 2:04 and I can already feel any sense of staying sane dripping from my body. So I decided to write a blog post. It's a brilliant idea that can't fail.

I'm always the first person to admit that life has been a bumpy road. I've said things I shouldn't, done stupid things and risked a lot. But, for me, this has made me a stronger person. I know it seems weird but it's true. I wouldn't be the person I am today if I hadn't made the mistakes I have.

(By the way, if you don't like me at the moment, then I am sorry for making the mistakes and being who I am. Just thought I'd cover all of the bases.)

Some of the things I have done may seem unfair or cruel, but I accept that and I have moved on.

What I don't understand, however, is when I've done something wrong but accepted fault and apologised, outsiders always try and make it worse. They always stick their oar in where it isn't needed and it makes me really angry.

If two people are having a dispute, they don't need a third party, who isn't even involved, to start causing trouble. It just makes things worse. So stop it. It's none of your business. It's between the two people arguing and no-one else.

Okay, rant over.

I hope this short post has given you a different perspective on things. If you know two people are having trouble, just stay out of the way and let them sort their problems out on their own. It makes everything easier and it's over quicker.

Just keep swimming.

Misery guts...

WHY ARE WE ALL SO MISERABLE.

British people always have something to complain about. Normally it's the weather, the fact we've got no money or the fact that someone else is complaining about something.

And, usually, if we are miserable about anything we take it out on the people around us. And they don't often have anything to do with it.

We always seem to blame things that have happened to us on other people. Then we just aim all of our anger at them.

It's a bad example I know, but this happens to me at where I work all the time. If something has happened to something that a customer purchased, they always seem to blame me if something happened to it. When, actually, it was probably their fault if it had broken.

I don't understand why we are always so miserable. There is just no pleasing anyone these days.

We all need a little boost of happiness in our lives everyday. Then we might just cheer up a little bit.

In an attempt to cheer you up today, here's a picture of a cat with it's head through a slice of bread. If that doesn't cheer you up even a little bit, then you're impossible.

See, it's hilarious.

So, next time you're taking your misery out on another person, who actually has nothing to do with what you're miserable about, just step back and realise what you're doing. And find a reason to smile everyday. Whether it be a picture of a cat in bread or a funny video on youtube, just make an attempt to make the world slightly less miserable.

Keep your chins up.

Give me something to blog about...

This is just a small post, because I won't be here for a while, but I just wanted to ask you, my Lovely readers a question...

What do you want to read? What do you want me to be writing about?

I've been having some 'writers block' troubles lately and so I thought that the best way to keep readers interested was by asking them what they wanted to see.

So, just leave me a small comment at the bottom of this post and let me know, and I'll start working on them while I'm on my break.

It can be anything. Whether that be optionated posts or posts about different types of cats, I'll take all of your suggestions into account. And, if I don't get any then I will be sad, so don't think your idea is silly. I'm open to anything.

Have a wonderful week while I'm gone!

The League of Evil Exs...

We've all had an Ex we'd rather forget.

Admit it.

But, after you've managed to get over them and forget them, maybe find someone else, you look back and think... "What the hell was I doing?" or, my personal favourite "Was I drunk for our entire relationship?".

Exes are difficult to deal with because each one is different and it's often hard to determine how to deal with them. BUT FEAR NOT.

I have the solution to all of your problems.

7 EVIL EXs SOLVED WITH 7 SIMPLE SOLUTIONS.

1 - The normal Ex. (The rarist of them all) - This rare type of Ex with simply leave with no problems. You have both decided that he relationship is over, but you don't try and be friends. If you have this, you need no solution. Although, this is fairly unlikely and rarely ever happens. If you have this type of Ex, you are SO lucky.

2 - It was fine until it got weird. - We've all had this. You have the "I think we should be friends talk." You think it'll be fine, but it's getting weird. All of your friends hang out with you both and all you can think is "I've seen you naked." There is a simple solution to this: Stop hanging around them or act completely normal. They're too complete extremes, but it's not going to end well if you just keep things the way they are.

3 - Stalker - One of the worst kinds of Ex. They are always on your facebook profile, seeing if you have a new crush and they are always asking people about you. To be honest, there isn't an easy way around these guys. There's no point blocking them from facebook because they'll find a way onto your profile. all you can do is sit it out. Don't make them angry. They can be scary when they're angry. Just wait for them to find another person to dig their claws into.

4 - Weirdo - These guys are just a bit creepy. They don't care about you. They worry about people you're interested in. They want to know what you want to try and get you back. It can be quite scary. They might hurt your possible future squeeze, or start dressing and acting like them. There isn't really an easy way of dealing with these guys. You just need to keep calm and hope it dies down, if it doesn't, you may need to sit them down and talk to them...

5 - The lost love - You're still in love with your ex, but you just can't get over them. It's difficult. You thought you had a bond, maybe they were your 'first', but you've got to understand that it's over. The worst thing you can do is watch Romantic films and sit on your sofa eating ice cream. You need to get out and distract yourself, maybe find someone else. But the more you dwell on it, the worse it will become. The pain will ease eventually, you just need to accept that you're not getting them back and just have fun!

6 - The 'Will they, won't they' - You break up, you make up, you break up again. This one is easily solved. MAKE UP YOUR MIND. YOU EITHER WANT TO BE TOGETHER OR YOU DON'T. Your friends are probably getting bored of all the facebook updates. So, just decide whether or not you want to be together before everyone gets so annoyed they try and sabotage the relationship for you.

AND FINALLY

7 - The one that you don't know what to do with - You were together so long, and you know you'll be friends, but you don't know whether or not to get back with them, and it can be confusing. But the best thing you can do is carry on being friends and see if the spark comes back. It's not going to be easy, because you've been with them so long, but trust me, it will get better.

However, if you've just read all of those and thought "It's not my Ex that's the problem, it's my girlfriend/boyfriend's!" then don't panic. I have advice for you.

Don't do what I do and get angry at them for being their Ex. Unless they've done something to annoy you, then they haven't actually done anything wrong and you can't be angry at them. Don't just hate them because they had your lover first. You have them now, and that's all that matters. Forget about them and just be happy with what you have!

Don't worry, be happy!

Confession time!

I've decided it's time to make a confession:

I'M A NERD.

You may not be surprised, because of the London trip, but I am a massive nerd.

Not just a Dr Who Nerd or a Comic Book Nerd, but a generic, stereotypical Nerd. I happen to have plenty of T-shirts, posters, merchandise of various Nerd 'Fandoms'... Including a rather attractive cardboard cut-out of David Tennant that sits proudly in my room. That's not weird at all.

But I am PROUD OF IT.

I'm proud to say that I like Dr Who, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Sherlock. That I like weird science stuff, reading comic books, like The Marvel Avengers comics and Scott Pilgrim AND I like musicals. There's nothing wrong with it at all.

We all have our little quirky secrets. Whether it's a secret guilty pleasure, like watching Glee when no-one is looking, or a collection we hide in our rooms, like the entire World of Warcraft set.

But, why hide it? Yeah, people might make fun of you for it, but you just need to take it on the chin. Usually if people make fun of you, they have something to hide to! People need to be proud of their kooky self! It's not something you should hide. If they mock you, just laugh it off.

You should be able to stand up and scream "I HAVE THE ENTIRE MY LITTLE PONY DVD COLLECTION!" or "I LIKE TO DRESS UP AS FICTIONAL CHARACTERS ON THE WEEKENDS!". Just, maybe not in a busy shopping centre because people might get confused and you may be kicked out and banned.

So, what are your Kooky or Quirky secrets? Do you happen to have every single Dr Who action figure, or are you an avid fan of Star Trek? I want to know!! Leave me a comment stating your pride for your kooky quirk!

Live long and prosper!!

Olympic Fever - Is it spreading?

7 years ago, when London was awarded the 2012 Games, everyone was really pumped.

Then, as it got closer and closer to the games, the enthusiasm surrounding the games was dropping and the only people who seemed enthusiastic about it were the organisers and the News Reporters. Everyone else didn't seem to care.

Most of the coverage on the build up to the games was about as thrilling and repetitive as the coverage on the Royal Wedding and the Jubilee, and we all know how fun they were to watch.

But it seems, as the games have begun, that the buzz surrounding the Olympics has grown, even if it's only slightly.

The Opening Ceremony lived up to the expectations, never mind what the Americans say. They're just jealous because it was better than theirs in Atlanta.

But there is so much hype around Team GB being the 'best team we've ever offered for an Olympics'...

So, when are we going to start doing well...?

I know we've won a couple of medals, and that's good, but every time an Athlete is in an event we hear the commentators say that they might 'chances of gold', but usually we don't even qualify for the final. (Although, usually we do rank higher than the year before, so we can't complain)

For example, Mark Cavendish. Now, don't get me wrong, he's a great cyclist. But at the last Olympics, he was the only member of the cycling team not to get a medal. Gutted. But, this year, the nation pinned their hopes on him to win a medal in the Road Race. Why? He hasn't won a medal in ages, he never does well in the Tour de France. I know it's a bit harsh, but you've got to be realistic.

One team that needs to be commended this year, however, is the Team GB Gymnastics squad. This year, the men and the women, have both been outstanding. We know China are always going to get the medals, along with Russia and Japan, but to have both men and women in the Team finals, two men in the all around individual and then various gymnasts in different apparatus finals is quite an achievement and the team should be commended on highlighting the sport for GB.

As always, there is going to be controversy surrounding the games. In the fencing, South Korean Shin Lam,
sat down in protest after her match as she believed she had won, despite the technology saying othewise. After close analysis, it had shown that Lam had officially won, but it was too late, as the judges decision was final. In the Badminton, 8 players were disqualified after it was believed they were losing on purpose.

The Olympics have caused a lot of trouble for London, maybe more bad than good, but we have to commend the athletes, of all countries, as they all perform to their best, even if some do falter. They all should be congratulated, especially those without medals.

Keep on swimming.

FRESHERS from the fight.

I'm going to start my second year of Uni soon. And, to a fresher, there's always one worry about second year...

I ACTUALLY HAVE TO START DOING WORK NOW!

That includes me.

But it's not just the work I'm having to face next year...

I've enjoyed my first year, and the 'Fresher Experience' as a whole. The friends, the nights out, the independence. All of it was so strange and enjoyable... I didn't want it to end.

There were so many things you can do at Uni, and get away with, that you could never do at home. Like have a messy room, trash the kitchen and get absolutely MASHED. (Of course, I would never do that last one. That's just awful.)

When you get to your second and third years, and you realise that your work actually matters this year, you realise that you have to fit getting drunk and breaking things has to come second. (Well, that's how it normally works, anyway.)

My second year is already packed with stuff I have to do:

Read plays
Write essays
Learns lines
Perform plays

Believe me, that's a lot of work.

In between that academia, I then have to fit in:

Going to the Gym
Drama Society
Hockey
and The possibility of a job.

"I could do all that in my sleep" I hear you cry. Well, you probably could. But I get stressed fairly easily, so doing all this AND trying to fit in going out with my friends is a near impossibility.

Even though I won't be able to go out and have fun, it's fair to say I'm looking forward to next year... Though, whether it's the lectures or the fact I will have money again after weeks of being broke is debatable. One of the things I am looking forward to most is seeing my friends again. And knowing that they're just a 5 minute walk away, instead of a 2 hour train journey. It's always nice, at Uni, to have friends so close by because you know that, if you ever need someone, that there is always someone close by to talk to or go for a drink with.

During the summer it takes weeks of organisation to get to go and see your friends, and usually costs so much money to get train tickets, or pay for petrol, whereas it costs nothing to walk down the road. And, trust me, I have fallen victim to the 'I HAVE TO SEE ALL OF MY FRIENDS OR I WILL EXPLODE OF BOREDOM' mentality. I have made an effort to see as many friends as I can but, due to excessively low funds, the city hopping will have to come to an end. Which makes me sad.

So, to all of you prospective University students, or those of you about to become a Fresher, here is some friendly advice: ENJOY YOUR FIRST YEAR. Because the second year is tough. You usually only need 40% to pass the first year and it often doesn't count anyway. Spend your student loan on what ever you want, because you won't get another chance to! So, really, just enjoy yourself and save your best for the last two years!

In the spirit of 'living your first year to the limit', here is a song that describes the life of a Fresher pretty accurately.

Keep calm and carry on.

Keeping fit or keeping fat?

I'm one of those people who likes nothing more than getting a tub of ice cream and lying on my sofa and watching tv.

I've always been like that. Some people call me 'lazy'.

But I'm happy.

Lately, it's been proven that obesity is killing more and more people each year, which is worrying, you have to admit it. The other day I decided to check my BMI, seeing as I haven't done much exercise lately. I thought it might give me motivation to get myself fit.

So, I weighed myself and checked my height and entered it online. I couldn't help but laugh when it turned out I was on the line between being overweight and being obese.

Normally, people would use that as an excuse to eat healthily and exercise and get away from obesity. Not me. I went downstairs, got myself a doughnut, went back to my computer and sat there all evening. I don't seem to have any motivation to do anything.

I would normally use the excuse of being a student, but that doesn't seem to have the same effect anymore, seeing as we have a gym a short walk away from My house, both at home and at university.

It seems that more people are trying to get fitter so gyms and fitness gurus are trying to draw in the customers by offering good prices and quick results. Whilst so called 'slimming aids' are selling better than ever, as people want to lose weight without all the hard work of exercise and healthy eating.

But isn't it a bit redundant?

We pay so much money to join a gym, buying specialist foods and specific products when, all we really need to do is buy more vegetables and fruit and less junk food, which should save money, and do some more exercise. Just doing a few hours of housework, like vacuuming and walking the dog, is enough to keep your heart healthy.

I'm the worst person to tell anyone to do exercise, my legs started to shiver when my boyfriend wanted me to walk into town with him...

But you'd think, with the Olympics coming up, people would be more interested in getting fit and trying new sports but instead are using it as an excuse to stick to their sofas and watch it on tv. It's becoming almost impossible to encourage people to go and and exercise.

I'd be a hypocrite if I called someone lazy. But, sometimes, it's good to do a bit of exercise. You may feel knackered afterwards, but it does make you feel good, releasing the endorphins and what not.

So next time you're sitting on your sofa, guzzling down sweets, don't just watch the Olympics. Be inspired to get off the sofa, put your sweets down and just go for it! That's what I intend to do!

Life in plastic... Is it so fantastic?

I know I have posted something similar to this before, but it is a topic that I deeply care about.

Why is today's society so obsessed with the way we look?

I'd be a hypocrite if I said that I don't care about how I look, because I do. Just like most people. It's often hard to avoid looking at our own reflection every 5 minutes sometimes.

But why have we become so concerned with our appearance?

I suppose it's easy enough for people to say "Don't change, you're beautiful the way you are", but everyone wants to change at least one thing about themselves. Think about it: If you had to change just one thing about yourself, what would you change? I'm going to confess, I'd like to have a flatter tummy. Maybe a straighter nose.

Most people would say "I want to be prettier" or "I want to be thin". But every person has their own idea of what it means to be 'beautiful' or 'pretty'. One person's princess can be another person's monster, and it's often difficult to please everyone.

Could this be one of the problems we face? Do we often think that if one person finds us unattractive that we need to change everything about ourselves to please that one person, even if it means everyone who loved us, and the way we looked, suddenly hating it?

For example: Jennifer Grey, the star of 'Dirty Dancing'.

She was a young, naturally beautiful woman. But, as soon as the pressure of Hollywood kicked in she got 'That Nose job' that pretty much wrecked her career. However, personally, I don't think she is an unattractive woman because of that.

Jennifer Grey - Before and after the Nose Job

Why can't someone 'different' be beautiful?

I googled the words 'Beautiful women' and the first thing I got on my screen was a bunch of pictures of women with very little clothes and rather large 'assests', which got a few funny looks from my mother when she read the internet history, I'm sure.

Why does beauty need to be defined by how large our boobs are and how flat our tummy is?

When we look at past beauty icons, we see the likes of Marilyn Monroe, who was a beautiful, curvy woman. She wasn't skinny, but she had a beautiful figure. But, unfortunately in today's society, she would probably be seen as 'large' or 'fat', so would be forced to change. Personally, I see her as a beauty icon. If I had her body and her striking beauty I would be chuffed.

Marilyn Monroe

These days, it's almost impossible to judge a person's natural looks because we hide behind make up and plastic surgery, afraid of how we'll be perceived by other people. We'd all be hypocrites if we told someone they don't need to change when we're thinking it ourselves. So, I have a challenge for every person who reads this blog.

Every time you look in a mirror, whether it's to brush your teeth, or your changing, look at yourself. Look into your eyes. And tell yourself that you ARE beautiful. You may not be Marilyn Monroe, or a stick thin model, but you are a beautiful person. You shouldn't listen to people's cruel comments about your weight, your looks or your dress sense.

Be yourself, always.

I'm back.

Yes, I'm back from my week away from civilisation. And, by that, I mean my week away from my computer.

"But where have you been?" I hear you cry.

Well, let me tell you where I've been.

LONDON.

Well, only for the weekend.

So, you know how ages ago I told you that I was going on a Nerd-trip to London with my fella, well I went this weekend. AND IT WAS AMAZING.

We spent the majority of our time on friday, the day we arrived, on the Bakerloo tube line around the centre of London visiting landmarks such as the Sherlock Holmes Museum, Speedy's cafe (The filming location for the T.V. show 'Sherlock') and the BBC Radio broadcast centre.

We had an extra hour and a half before our dinner reservations, so we hopped back on the tube and visited Trafalgar Square. Here, we saw the Olympic countdown clock and The National Gallery. If you're ever in London, do visit the National Gallery, it's free entry and there are some wonderful pieces to see there. I'm not going to lie, the only reason we went inside it was because it started to rain when we were sitting on the steps outside.

Saturday was a very surreal day, and that's not an exaggeration.

Me, my fella and our friend, Adam, went and visited Covent Garden. It started fairly normally. Getting the tube, going to a Canadian themed pub, The Maple Leaf, and then going to Nandos for our dose of Portuguese chicken.

I noticed, completely by chance as we were standing at a cash machine, that the Adelphi Theatre was literally steps away from where we were. And the Michael Ball and Imelda Saunton production of 'Sweeney Todd' was performing there, and there was a matinee because it was a saturday.

I dragged Adam and Chris to the stage door and forced them to wait with me for about half an hour. We watched, what seemed like, every member of stage crew pass us by then re-renter the building in a space of half an hour. Then, just as we were about to give up, we noticed a man, in a vest, standing in the doorway of the theatre.

We all had to do a double-take before we noticed who was standing so close to us.

It was Jason Manford, who is currently playing Todd's barber rival Pirelli in the production at the Adelphi.

I think it is fair to say we were starstruck. We stood there for a few moew minutes, hoping to run into Ball or Staunton, but no luck. We started to chart who the most famous people we'd met or seen before were. As we stood there, I noticed out of the corner of my mind, a large entourage. And, in the middle, was the one, and only, Gok Wan. I feel silly for saying it now, but the only thing I could say at the time was "Is that Gok Wan? Oh my God." He walked straight past us and wondered into a near by bar.

It was literally like waiting for a bus. You wait ages for one celebrity and then two come along at once. It was typical. On the tube home, the only thing the three of us could think about was how starstruck we all were. I was on such a high that I managed to make it down the 193 steps of Covent Garden Station. If you've ever seen them, you'll know how brutal they are.

Sunday was just amazing.

Why?

Because I went to the London Film and Comic Con. That's why.

London Film and Comic Con, Olympia, London

For those of you who don't know, Comic Con is a kind of gathering where fans of T.V. Shows, comics, Films, etc, can meet the stars and creators, buy merchandise and meet other fans. Think of it as a sort of 'Nerd Haven'.

People in all sorts of costumes were walking around the centre. Power Rangers, Anime Characters, Storm Troopers, The Doctor. You name it, it was probably there somewhere.

I felt so at home.

I saw so many famous people too. Freema Agyeman from Doctor Who, John Simm, Anthony Stewart-Head from Merlin, Hayden Panettiere and Bernard Cribbins. I don't think I've ever been happier.

Oh, and I got to wear a funky mushroom hat.

So, that was my weekend. It seems so far away, even though it was only a few days ago.

A tip to everyone reading this: If you ever want to meet celebrities, go to a Comic Con or stand in the street in Covent Garden outside some bars. You never know who you might see.

Live long and prosper.

Sunday 1 July 2012

The last 24 hours have been a blur...

I'm sleep deprived.

VERY sleep deprived.

So sleep deprived that whenever I do sleep, I wake up thinking that the dream I was having was real then panicking or crying when I find out it wasn't real, and I was simply still tired.

But the last 24 hours have been the worst.

On Saturday morning (Well, afternoon), I woke up at 12:30 and finally found the energy to roll out of bed at 1, then I decided to do my daily computer routine of 'Turn on, check facebook, check twitter, check e-mail, check tumblr... scroll aimlessly through tumblr, then stare at the screen.'

I got so bored of this.

At approximately 5pm, I grabbed my book from the shelf.

THEN IT ALL WENT DOWNHILL.

The book I grabbed was the FABULOUS 'Hunger Games' by Suzanne Collins. I started at the point I left off when I put it down a few weeks ago (To those of you who know the story, it was just at the beginning of the Games themselves). Then I read.

And read.

And read.

By 10pm, I had finished the book.

So I picked up the sequel, 'Catching fire'. By about 1am, I was tired of reading. So, I restarted my computer routine and eventually clambered back into bed at 4am. My mistake was picking up the book to 'Read just one more chapter before bed.' Before I knew it, it was 10am and I had read two thirds of the book.

I had managed to sit there for 6 hours and read.

HOW?!

So, I decided I needed to sleep. So I did. I woke up at 3:30 and had breakfast. Casual.

I had to finish the book.

I read for another two or so hours until the book was complete, and I wasn't disappointed.

I FOOLISHLY PICKED UP THE FINAL BOOK IN THE TRILOGY.

Luckily, I'd got to chapter 5 and I had a headache from all the reading. (My body isn't really used to it.)

Since I've started reading, my entire life has become narrated in my head.

Even as I write this to you, it feels as if I'm being narrated and watched. It's a strange sensation.

I also feel bad that I haven't written many blogs lately.  I think that my sleep deprived mind has run out of things to say, so has just shut down in the thinking department. (Wouldn't  be the first time) I'll try and speak more, but I'll try and get some sleep first.

Believe it or not, I couldn't really find a song to finish my blog with that held this theme. So, instead, I will give you a beautiful song from 'The Hunger Games' film soundtrack. It's not exactly fitting, but I'm so tired right now, I'm tempted to put the Thong Song here for thrills.

Stay Classy.
